i had been wanting to add tags to my entries for some time now... at first i didn't want to, since i wanted to keep it clean & simple... however, after trolling around other pipz' blogs, i noticed tagging has its perks...
so after 40 years (hehe), i finally found the time to add tags to all (!) my entries, and find a nice tag widget for the sidebar... after searching and comparing widgets, the best one i found so far was posted by Raymond on his website: www.compender.com. simple but cool.
kudos & thanks, Raymond May!

A Prayer for Common Sense
Dear God, help me learn that things cannot always be done in the best way, that the sorry scheme of things cannot be shattered to bits and then rebuilt; that I am surrounded by others who, like myself, have their own ideas and limitations; that the best intentions may be opposed, and the worst condoned, when the greater good of the greater number requires it.
Let me realize that charity is often better than zeal and sacrifice; that it is ill quarreling in a small boat on a long voyage, that I must take from others what they have, and not demand from them what they lack; that many things are healed by time.
Help me, if I am ever given charge of things to realize that I cannot escape from the limitations of my medium; that it is in and with and for the group that I must work; that neither head nor hand could exist without the body; that I am either the head or the hand (the direction or the instrument) of this definite body, and I must not leave it behind or tear it into pieces or transmute it into something strange.
For every action done in this world, a spirit must move behind the scenes. The human tendency is to let the human, frail spirit move. May thy spirit given to me in all the Sacraments, be my First Mover, my Director in the way, and my Goal in all my actions. Amen.

grilling al fresco...
my mom visited liloan, cebu for the death anniversary of her father last 18 June... when she came down to the city, we ate at Kanyoen, a japanese resto in mabolo... we thought it was like the usual commercial japanese resto with the bento, okonomiyaki, etc. but no! customers had to grill their own food!!

my mom says she's never going back to this resto again...
for me, i have mixed feelings... especially since i was hoping to get okonomiyaki =P... but then, it's always good to try new stuff once in a while...
so all in all, it was an interesting experience.

i carry your heart with me...
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

acceptance vs. tolerance...
once in a while, you encounter a statement that stands out and challenges your perceived notions about something or other.... well, here's one for me:
"But here’s what I think: It’s hard enough for anyone to find love, you know? And though my knowledge of Christianity is limited, common sense and decency suggest that the last place you’d expect to be throwing up obstacles toward happiness is the goddamn church. Wouldn’t you think? How can the Christian church create so many outcasts, when the religion was founded on the teachings of history’s greatest outcast? It’s a remarkable paradox, isn’t it?"click this link to view the full commentary: Pajiba.com: For The Bible Tells Me So

undecided...
my heart is confused, aching...
try as I might, I cannot make things work
like I want them to.
for what reason am I put here on earth
except to suffer at my own helplessness,
bought about by forces I cannot control
which in return controls my own indecisions.

sinulog 2008, atimanah!
ivyJay came from SG to visit & celebrate sinulog...
19 jan: dinner @ inday_misa's house with ivyJay, Carrie, Apple, Kaloi, Kiking, Kakang etc... the woman CAN cook! i lurv her already... (hope she adopts me...hehehe)
20 jan: woke up late, went to meet ivyJay, Carrie, Kakang, AC, Lyla for sinulog... got caught up in sinulog traffic in colon & fuente (i did this last year, when will i ever learn?? tsktsk...), before catching up with the guys @ Gimik (Mango Square) for videoke...
had dinner @ one of the numerous chicken houses near Chong Hua... it rained early in the evening... then went to Ayala to see the fireworks (we were late!...) where i felt quite out sorts so we chilled out @ Bigby's... Tita Cecilia, one of the Misa's relatives took us home, where i promptly spewed my dinner during the trip to the Misa's house... good thing there was a plastic bag handy... so friggin' embarassing! but Kiking & Kakang got stomach-sick too, after we reached their house, so mebbe i was contagious, or what??hehe
21 jan (early morning... like 12:00 friggin AM!!): Kakang took us to the hill behind their house to see the city lights... and do an impromptu photoshoot (actions choreographed by none other than ivyJay)... and posted this using Kakang's desktop PC...

OpenCourseWare...
you CAN teach an old dog new tricks... and what better way to learn by going OpenCourseWare, where you can get quality education for free.
i'm currently trying out MIT's Writing & Humanistic Studies... of course, i'll try my damndest to find the time to follow the curriculum. i hope to learn as much from it as i can, even if i will not get a diploma when i finish the course.
i'll also be checking other courses available from MIT and other universities. i might be able to use these newly acquired knowledge in the future... who knows, right?

happy new year 2008...
to start the new year, i got a cool background pix from Kardz's Friendster page... Makes me wanna go introspective with how my life went the past year, and some such mopey stuff...
here, concentrate on it:

makes ya wanna think, ryt??
anyways, updates: went home to CDO last 23 December in time for my mama's natal day, spent Christmas with the family and also with bro-in-law Jake's family... got back here in Cebu to spend a dreary new year's eve & day (just went binge-eating, is all...). and same old, same old new year, back-to-werk-pipol life...<sigh!>
happy new year everyone!
